Charlene Underwood received her undergraduate degree from New York University and her Juris Doctor degree from Brooklyn Law School, in New York.
Ms. Underwood has over 20 years of legal experience. She garnered significant and extensive trial and litigation experience as Deputy District Attorney for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, where she practiced for 10 years. In addition to prosecuting various felony crimes and assignments with special units, Ms. Underwood was responsible for prosecuting workers’ compensation fraud. Fraud suspects included allegedly injured workers, attorneys, physicians, cappers, medical facilities, and pharmacies. Ms. Underwood also participated in legislative activity regarding the prosecution of workers’ compensation fraud. Also, as a volunteer prosecutor, Ms. Underwood taught at risk youth about the criminal justice system, helping them to recognize the legal and social consequences of criminal activity.
Ms. Underwood presently represents insurance carriers, self-insureds, and employees in all aspects of workers’ compensation defense.
